Our Day at the Dunes

The past few months have been really dismal. So it was fun to get out and enjoy a very little bit of sunshine.
Where: Little Sahara Sand Dunes
When Friday
Why: To shake our cabin fever
What: We left at 11 and picked up some sandwiches. We got to the dunes around noon and ate lunch in the van because it was cold. I was worried it wasn't going to be fun. But once we got moving around and the later it got in the day it was great fun. We also found this sand bowl right by our car that we played in. We were protected by the wind so that helped to keep us warm. The kids had an absolute blast. The sand was perfect for digging and making sand castles. Ben said we came on a good day because it's not always like that. Ben loved riding his dirt bike and the 4-wheeler. We had to pull the kids away from the sand when it was time to leave. This is something we are gong to do again. I think we will wait a couple of month when it's a bit warmer. Ben said we also have to wait and go the day or two after a storm if we want to the "playable" sand. And it's better to go on a weekday when it's not so busy. I didn't know there was so many factors to enjoying a day on the dunes.
