Caleb 5 months old

Babies grow so fast!! Caleb is 5 months old today. He is doing really well. Here are a few things that have changed this month
~He has a tooth!! This is pretty funny because Kaelynn and Tyler didn't get teeth until they were about 7 months old. We didn't even know he was teething. Yesterday I put my finger in his month and he bit down and low and behold there was a tooth just breaking through.
~We started rice cereal, but he hasn't learned how to swallow it yet.
~He has only rolled over once from back to tummy.
~Started waking up again in the night:( Maybe it's because he was teething and we didn't know about it.
~Discovered toes. YUMMY!!
~Started to play with tongue and make spitting sounds.
~Loves bath time every 3-4 days (hey, give me a break he's my 3rd child!!)
He is a great baby we LOVE having him a part of our family.

Student Loan

Ben and I graduated from SUU in 2003. Ever since then we (like so many others) had a small student loan. We have been paying $50 a month for 5 1/2 years. This was supposed to be our last year to pay on it. Today we got some exciting news. The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority has decided to forgive us the remainder of our loan "as a way of thanking you for taking care of your loan obligation in a diligent manner". I don't know if this is a common thing or not, but it sure made our day!!! The picture is of Ben and I on graduation day May 2003. I was Pregnant with Kaelynn and really trying not to be sick LOL!!!

Finally Finished

We mostly finished our basement about 6 months ago. The only thing left was the bathroom sink and mirror. The past couple of days we have painted, put the sink in and hung the mirror. So now when we have grandma and grandpa come to our house (and any one else) they won't have to bring all the stuff upstairs. Thanks Greg and Missy for the sink. It worked great!

First Day of Spring

Well, today is the fist day of Spring and it sure feels nice. I know this weather won't last, but we sure LOVE it. This week we went down to Cedar City to pick up a trailer that we bought. We only stayed one night, but it was fun to see everyone. We even went down to Toquerville and it made us wonder why we don't live there (and then we remember that in August it's 115 and so we are OK with were we are). To celebrate our new trailer and the first day of Spring we went and got stuff to make 3 more garden boxes and the fertilizer for the lawn. We do the square foot garden method and LOVE it.

Pi Day

Some of you might know that today was "pi" day. If you don't go to www.piday.org to find out. I am not a math enthusiast, but I still think it's kind of fun. I was going to make a pie today, but life was too crazy. So I ate a bowl of ice cream instead. I will say my favorite pie is pumpkin. I LOVE it! A really close 2nd is cheese pie (also known as cheesecake). I also like pizza pie and chicken pot pie. Happy PI day!

Girls night

Kaelynn loves to have "girls night" with me when Ben is at work. Tonight we painted our fingers and crimped our hair. Yes, that's right I cleaned out my bathroom today and found my crimper from the 1980's. WOW I couldn't believe I still had that thing. I am more surprised Ben hasn't found it and thrown it away. Kaelynn and I had a fun night, and she loved the crimped hair look. Do you think the "look" will make a come back? LOL!!!

Unplugged

Could you go a whole week with no TV, computer, or Wii? Well we thought we would give it a try. This is how Tyler took the news when we told the kids our plan. Since Caleb has been born it has been nice to have something that keeps the kids occupied while I am busy feeding, changing, etc.. Caleb. Well, it was getting a little out of control. All Tyler wanted to do was play computer or Wii, and all Kaelynn wanted to do was watch TV. So we decided they needed to go without for awhile to rediscover there is more to life. Can you believe that it actually hasn't been that bad. The kids have played more together, found games they haven't played for along time, and have played outside. I have had to play with them a lot more, but it's time well spent. Yeah for family time!! Next week they are going to get all their "stuff" back, but in moderation.
